As I was approaching the “big 40” I decided I needed to run a marathon before my birthday so signed up for Brighton Marathon in April 2017. Having never run this distance I knew I needed a good training plan, needed to eat well and look after my legs (this is where Active Potential came in). Having been to see Sam before, I booked a Bronze marathon package that gave me a sports massage each month in the lead-up to the race.
It was really easy to book appointments and having regular treatments meant I was much less likely to experience injury. Sam was really helpful every step of the way, providing me with valuable advice and recommending any exercises and stretches I could do between treatments to support my training, as well as giving me confidence boosting pep talks.
Whenever I felt pain or discomfort, Sam would be able to work out exactly what was wrong, meaning I could then carry on training without any setbacks. I left each appointment feeling positive and able to achieve my race goal.
When the marathon came around, I was very apprehensive but knew I had followed my training plan to the letter and had regular sessions with Sam to ensure my legs were in good shape. I couldn’t have done anymore. I made sure I followed sensible pacing throughout the race and was over the moon to achieve a time over 40 mins quicker than my target.
I found my marathon package a really useful complement to my training and would highly recommend Active Potential Therapy.
